57th Film Festival Locarno

Tonight and for the weekend, I'll be at the 57th Film Festival of Locarno [a small city in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland]. Just have a look at the programme: there are so many great, new and experimental movies shown that even the most enthusiastic cineasts won't manage to watch more than 25% of it.

i was there in 1999, not a single english subtitle onscreen... just watching the picture makes me feel like getting only half the story and the other half just wished it would all end so the frankfurt girl and i could go back to the hotel... and do interesting things other than watching films with no civilised sub-titles... ;)

is that anywhere near Lugano? I have a LJ friend staying there (mathemajician)

yes, Locarno is quite close to Lugano. They're about 25 kilometres apart.

It was great, and I will go for a whole week next year. Anyway, Locarno and its surrounding are a very nice place to be without the film festival, but the combination is a perfect vacation.

There was one KR movie which I haven't seen, but the pictures reminded me very much of the atmosphere around these buildings shown in Nick's LJ and in that picture you took.
