I've been puzzling about this since I logged on about two hours ago, and I still don't know what to say, because I still don't know what I think.

I guess the reason people think 'wanting whatever makes your lover happy = love of the best kind' is because it's more idealistic.

I'm very idealistic, but it's a bit of an untenable position.

I think it's because it appears to be more selfless, but I'm sure now that people miss the point.

Did you/Do you have that view point?

Oh, I make it my aim never to have view points...

BST, I really have no idea. I mean, it took me long enough to come up with vaguely subject-oriented ramble.

I think I'd be inclined to go with the (seemingly) selfless one, but I'm not strongly attached to it and wouldn't argue for or against either option, or indeed any others.

Seems to me I'd have to know what love is before I could work out what the best kind of love is, otherwise it's just empty opinion.
