It had been tough, to leave the Tenth’s side, especially when he was in such a state-blind, incurably so, as he and the Baseball-tard believed. But that couldn’t be true, just couldn’t, because if something could make a person blind, there were ways to change it, to reverse the effects, and Gokudera would find out what those methods were. He’d given the Tenth his word, after all, and being his right-hand-man, there was no way he’d fail. Not a chance.
Just like there was no way he wasn’t going to take care of the Varia Bastard that was also here, before even figuring out where the hell ‘here’ was. Belphagor had challenged him (or maybe it had been the other way around, Hayato wasn’t one for details where they didn’t concern the final result), insulted Tsuna, and snubbed the Vongola performance against the Varia. Belphagor, the assassin knife-brat who was a dirty traitor, and a creepy-ass one at that, one that might have given Gokudera the chills if he wasn’t already shaking from rage, instead.
He hadn’t wanted to lie to the Tenth. But concerning him needlessly when he was in such a state would have been a worse crime. He hadn’t parted from Yamamoto and the Vongola Boss in order to look for the Storm Ring, which unforgivably, was not heavy around his neck anymore. It was ‘missing’, which beyond-aggravated him, but he couldn’t decide just how-did it make him furious because he’d lost something so important to the Famiglia, or because the Tenth had lost something so-much-more precious? Something to think about later. For now, Gokudera had gone to answer Belphagor’s call, to face off with the person he hadn’t been able to nab the Storm Ring from the first time around, because the Tenth had insisted he think of his own health before victory…
And the Tenth had been right. As always.
But now, it was his turn to repay the Tenth for all of his kindness, and show the true power of a Vongola Gaurdian. Or, just to smash the face in of someone who really pissed him off. Something like that.
Approaching the edge of the forest, their meeting place, Gokudera frowned, narrowing his eyes, searching out the small, square shape, blond head with a tiara. “Hey! Bastard! Where are you…? I swear, if he chickened out…”
