My grandmothers house had a lightening rod as well, and my brothers and I used watch the summer lightening storms from the second story bedroom windows. I'm on the ground floor here, so it's nice for schlepping groceries and furniture, but not so hot for watching the weather.

Florida has fantastic lightening storms. It's one of the few things I'll miss about the swamp if we ever manage to escape.

The rod isn't on our house, but the church next door, which, with its height makes it a huge attraction for storms :D it's pretty awesome.

I ♥ the new icon by the way!

Thank for the icon love! I thought it was high time for a new "self portrait."

"It was a dark and stormy night."

That sounds really cool actually. We don't really get much in the way of storms here generally either, and certainly nothing as cool as sitting watching one attack the church next door.

Maybe it's an evil church... why else would God smite it with lightning so much? *grins*
