How do I post pictures that will be the right size?

We have been so busy lately - my son is home until the 25th and we had a huge BBQ for the car group on Saturday. We got some great pictures of that and I want to post them but not screw up the sizing on everyone's screens.
Do I need a paid account to put up pictures?
