Here they come -- the earnest exhortations to get out and vote. You'll be hearing it from television newscasters, MTV, newspaper ads, radio talk show hosts, weathermen, schoolteachers ... you get the idea. Everyone has a duty to vote, they will say ( Read more... )

Thank you for posting this and your more recent post. I'm still in a struggle with which is the lesser of two evils though. Most everyone in my age group is so gung-ho to vote for Kerry but I JUST.Don't.Like.Him. I have refrained from seeing the Anti-Bush movie (F, 9-11) b/c I'm aware of what it uncovers and I don't want to see it and be jumping on the band wagon. I already know that both parties have their pros and cons, I'm still trying to wressle with my conscience.
So when it comes down to it, I will follow my gut. I NEVER disclose who I vote for.

And yes, I agree that if you are not informed then your vote is merely an uneducated stab, you know? (hope for the best!)

There is a Third Party Candidate tantricasimela October 23 2004, 18:33:23 UTC
Michael Badnarik is the third on the ticket - of whom many that don't want to vote for Bush or Kerry are voting for and does represent the Libs. Its not like voting "green" party just to upset the balance - it represents a growing group of voters.

That is not a "stupid" vote because Badnarik has no chance and everyone knows it though he does represent the Libertarians and those numbers may reflect greatly as the true Third Party. Its the "informed" vote if you find yourself a Libertarian and know the party platform. If you don't know that it would be a stupid vote.

Moore's "documentary" tantricasimela October 23 2004, 18:40:18 UTC
As far as Fairenheit 911, I found Michael Moore to have taken so much out of context that I couldn't list it all here (I think I did some of it awhile back). It irritated me to no end that he took bits and pieces here and there, called it a "documentary" at first then a "movie" when it started making money. For me it had nothing to do with Bush and everything to do with making a mockery of Hollywood and the public, who will eat everything up that is "scary".
In that respect, Moore is brilliant and I often wonder if he intentionally did what he did to see how many people would swallow it hook, line and sinker which has always been his point in the past.

Voting From Afar iammercurial October 24 2004, 10:31:24 UTC
I vote on issues I am aware of. I have frequently left blank spots on my ballot because I did not feel I was informed enough about an issue to make a quality decision.

So, this year, being in Afghanistan and having limited time and access to look things up, I pretty much restricted myself to candidates, and a couple of other issues.

I voted for Badnarik for president. I am aware that he will not likely win, I hope however that if enough people vote for him then the Republocrats and Demoblicans will get the hint and alter their respective platforms accordingly.
