My idyllic appreciation of the tea while contemplating my relationship, or rather lack thereof with Mr. Tall Dark and Gloomy, was suddenly interrupted by a heart crashing whack of a sound. Tilting my head towards the sound, I at first thought it was Yahiko earning some retribution from his sensei... but quickly ruled that out.

Raising silently and effortlessly to my feet, I loosen the kunai I keep hidden, a couple falling into place in my fingers as I creep forward... only to look in abject terror....

"SPIDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" I scream with utter terro, letting loose a barrage of kunai aimed at the fast crawling thing.

That spider must be tasting victory for it is down the home stretch now with its target hiding spot in sight. I am not going to make it... but I have to try! The broom is my bokken of doom and this spider is Kenshin Yahiko Sanosuke an enemy trying to flee the scene of a crime!

I get ready to pounce when a girly-sounding screech and then several flashes of silver whiz by. I pause in mid-step and look directly down....

"Mi-Mi-Misao-chan!" I jump back, shaking my head several times. One kunai landed and impaled the spider right to my kitchen floor just inches away from the finish line. "You killed it!"

Coherent thought has fled my terrorized mind, I merely studder, stupidly "sppp-spppider" to Kaoru... only just staying within ear shot of my friend. I have no intention of creeping any closer... to verify that the critter is in fact dead... But after no faint movements, my wild eyed looked, and erratic pants, resume a more natural appearance and rhythm.

"You owe me a new kunai, because there's now way I'm using one with spider guts on it."

"Mou! You threw the stupid thing! I didn't ASK you too!" I am glad that Misao-chan got rid of it before it ended up in my miso soup! But... it's STILL there...

And I think I see one of its legs twitching....

"Ack!" I join Misao-chan over where she safely is. "It's still alive!"

I can't help but glance to Kaoru as I keep a wary eye on the kunai impaled arachnid.

"Oh and you didn't want it dead?" I begin to reply, a certain level of sarcasm in my voice, which rapidly dissapears at the word 'alive.'

I squeak 'alive?" voice breaking, as I edge further back and put Kaoru inbetween me and 'it.'

Rats! I missed!

I turn to face her with one hand on my hip. The other hand, which is still holding this darn broom, is pointed at her now.

"And what would Aoshi-san say if he saw you too chicken to retrieve your kunai because of a spider Misao-chan?"

Then I pause when I actually start to think of what he would say!

..........

"Well, whatever it would be, if anything you probably wouldn't like it!" I take the broom and now point it back at the spider which is too close for comfort. "So for Aoshi-san Misao-chan, you must get rid of that spider!"

I can't help but laugh. "Aoshi, probably wouldn't say anything. He is fairly taciturn and all, not much of a conversationalist." I giver her a calculating look, "But you know, we could be going back and forth like this for hours Kaoru, where's Kenshin-san when you need him? Isn't he the domestic diva of the household anyway?"

"Eh?" Misao-chan would have to fire back with Kenshin. "Um... He actually is doing the responsible thing in doing the grocery shopping for us right now. He even cleaned the floors earlier along with doing all of the laundry!" And a magical pile of laundry that never seems to end for him too I notice....

She is correct though that neither one of us is going to volunteer taking care of... it. So what can be done about it? I could just keep staring at her like I am right now... and hope she gets the hint!

I sigh exasperated, must I do EVERYTHING myself. "Oh fine..." I rummage in my obi and pull out a few things. "Question... is there any reason for you to stay here the next couple of hours?"
