I've got mixed feelings about Coming Out Day. On the one hand, I understand it's importance, the necessity for some to have this day. On the other, I almost feel like there's a pressure to be out and proud or use the day as a springboard to come out if you're not already.

There are they again the two sides of the medal:
on one side it's nice to have such a day, but on the other side there are the consequences.
I think making this an official day takes a lot of pressure on some people. You already pointed out all the possibilities.
Kudos to all who pick the courage, and my sympathy to all who rather stay back.

Thank you for this. I always feel bad that I am not out as bisexual to most people, but I am not out. I have similar feelings about breastfeeding in public (some lactavists act as if every nursing mom owes it to the world to normalize it by doing it publically, but not everyone is comfortable, period!)
