ROUND 3: TAO'S BIRTHDAY 2017!
welcome back to another round of tao fic-generating goodness!
we're sure you're all curious about the results of the poll, so we'll announce that first and foremost.
TAOBEI 2017 WILL BE:
a fic fest!
exciting, right?
...but there's more!
since there was such a demand for self-prompting as well, we'll be opening up self-prompt sign-ups in conjunction with the main fic fest event. if you find that you don't want to claim a prompt but you still want to write for tao, this will be your chance to participate!
as such, this round will be quite different than our previous rounds in some respects. the fic fest rules will stay the same, but we'll be making changes to how we post and where we post due to the voting results.
we'll be using both AO3 and LJ to post fics!
HOW WILL WE DO THIS?
during postings, fics will still be posted by us to LJ as per usual.
HOWEVER,
- we will open up a collection on AO3 for this round's fics to be placed into.
- fics that are 10k words or longer will need to be posted to that collection. we won't have writers split them into multiple parts this time.
- we will also allow participants who have an AO3 account to post their fics to the collection themselves, even if their fic isn't 10k or longer. there will be rules on how to submit your fic this way, so stay tuned for info on it later. or email us about it if you manage to finish your fic really early.
- if you don't have an AO3 account but your fic's 10k or longer, don't worry. we'll post it there for you. again, there will be a special submission form for AO3 posts, which we'll reveal when it's closer to the submission date!

november 25: prompting opens
december 16: prompting closes
december 17: claiming / self-prompting opens
january 7: claiming / self-prompting closes
february 12: check-in #1 (500w)
march 12: check-in #2 (1500w)
april 12: final submissions
april 22: postings begin
may 2: reveals!
RULES:
- this is a fic fest / prompt meme for tao. as such, you may only prompt or write tao pairings. anyone can give a prompt, you don't have to participate as a writer to do so.
- you can prompt any pairing as long as tao is the main focus! this includes: tao/exo, tao/crossovers, tao/ex-members, tao/OT3+, tao-centric, and tao/tao.
- the above rules are the same for self-prompters (but you'll have to be a writer as well, of course). you'll have the same amount of time to write as writers that take prompts.
- the minimum word count of your fics must be 1500 words. yes, you can write more - you can make your fic as long as you want. but it can't be shorter than 1500 words.
- stay anonymous until reveals. don't talk about your fic on social media or to your friends. the reveals are supposed to be a surprise, after all.
- if you need a dealine extension, do not hesitate to contact a mod ASAP. we can be very generous with extensions if need be. all you have to do is ask! that said, don't procrastinate on your writing. when the final deadline comes, there's only so much time we'll be able to wait for you to submit before we have to drop you. so please try your best to meet deadlines and be responsive to our emails.
- don't plagiarize. just don't.
