Ugh. I had to put down my oldest cat last night. Nikita was 9, and had a cancerous growth in her abdomen. I know it was the humane thing to do, but damn it was hard leaving her there.

I'm an animal lover too. Putting a pet to sleep is one of the toughest decisions ever to make. It's almost always the right one though. Maybe you can get a new kitten for your daughters? Sometimes that helps.
