how do you keep track of all these "selves"?

I can't even manage to figure out one self.

so you're saying... that there are aspects of your you that only appear in the internet, and nowhere else? That seems pretty odd to me, since I have a tendency to think that we are always made up of what we're made up of in different situations, just with different foci at times. Does that make sense?

Perhaps you meant that the accentuation of different aspects of your personality creates the stuff like 'gif', in which case it makes perfect sense.

But I think that I have a tendency to try to be the same person all the time, and I don't really have any specific reason for that... it just seems a good thing to do to me. *shrug*

No, I don't think that's what I'm saying, although that happens in some ways - there are certain things that I do and say online that I would not do or say in real life, but whether that's a different aspect of my personality or something else entirely I don't know...I need to ruminate on how to explain it all better.
