TV's weird

So, finally downloaded and started watching Firefly. Very good so far!

It makes me wonder though, what criteria do TV stations use in cancelling shows? Just ratings? I mean, jesus, if a show is just plain good, advertise it better or put it at a better time; don't just cancel it! Idiots...

I think the funniest part is that it got such low ratings, and then after it died, everyone was upset. It must have caught on at the last moment, but it's still too late at that point. Fantastic rolling dialogue in that show.

I love Firefly....the bf made me watch it and i thought I'd hate it....we watched 4 hours of it the first night alone.....*sigh* We only have a few more to go, though, until we're done. :( So sad.

I actually still love Buffy more...but I actually liked Firefly because I saw the movie first. Glad to know you are keeping up with the tv exploring!

Mostly it's ratings, yes. FOX did run the episodes out of order (which, if you actually PURCHASED and SUPPORTED good shows you would know since the air dates are listed on the sleeves) which obviously confused and turned off a lot of first time viewers. Keep in mind that Joss Whedon did have a pretty healthy built-in (if slightly insane) audience from Buffy and Angel. Not knowing who these characters were was enough to make people not tune in week after week just because they had no frame of reference for the show ( ... )
