Thanks for your comments, which I respect and of which I take note. I sympathise, if you were expecting Alexander's Lovers to be like any other book on Alexander. In fact I consciously sought to take a different approach in both substance and style, so I take comfort from the fact that you have recognised that difference. The audience I am addressing is those who don't really like the "good" Alexander books which you mention. In fact you are the first to dislike the writing style of Alexander's Lovers. Comments from other readers include, "Fantastic writing, engaging but not dumbed down"; "a very well written book"; "excellent essay... the eloquent author of this book offers lots of reliable alternative hypotheses"
Best regards,
Andrew

Hi Blood Red Wolf,
I hope the book arrives soon. From what you say you are unlikely to be disappointed by the section on Hephaistion. It's 67 pages long and should have rather more detail than most other things that you have read. I take some trouble to make it clear that the idea that Alexander and Hephaistion were just good friends is completely untenable in the evidence. Enjoy!
Best wishes,
Andrew
