Work Time

So, now that I've decided to recommit myself to my old school Muay Thai training, I've had to really get back to basics. Hit the dojo yesterday, and got to use the makawara board. Oh I don't do it because I like the actual pain. I'm just inordinately proud of all the injuries I accrue from martial arts. The best was when I first started at East-West, I would come into work every night, covered in bruises, with the biggest grin on my face. I get excited when I meet people who are better than me at martial arts, because it inspires me to work all that much harder. When I get frustrated with my progress, I can always sit down and watch the white belts, and it always reminds me of how far that I've come, whereas the bruises, the cauliflower ear, the bloody knuckles and elbows, they all serve to remind me of how much farther that I can go.

And you're the one that calls you a masochist.

It's the result of a busted blood vessel in the ear, happens when you get your head ground into a mat or kicked in the head. It hurts a bit, but it's still one of my battlescars, so I'm proud of it.
