After she left Ginny's house, she headed back to the house on Main St.

She wasn't really angry anymore. She was just ... a little upset, still.

Hermione arrived home only a few minutes after Tara. She had tarried slightly, nervous about what Tara was going to say to her when she got there.

She broke up with her last girlfriend over magic... but surely she realized this was different... All Hermione knew was that she couldn't stand to lose Tara.

"Tara? Love, are you here?" Hermione called softly, hesitantly as she locked the front door behind her. It was unlocked so Tara must be here. The only real question was whether she had any interest in even seeing Hermione, much less talking about their disagreement.

She was sitting in the living room with the lights off, staring out the window at the street, atching as every once in a while a car went by.

Familiar scenario that was.

When Hermione came in, she sighed and said, "In the living room ..."

Hermione followed her voice into the other room. She sat down near her, but not touching, unsure if Tara would welcome her presence that close or move away. She didn't think she could handle it if Tara flinched away from her touch so she didn't try to find out.

"Hi..." she said, so softly it was probably barely audible, "Do you... want to talk?"

Her anger at what she took to be Tara's distrust of her and misguided obsession with the danger of magic had faded away. She couldn't stay angry when Tara looked so desolate; she couldn't help wanting to wipe away the sadness, no matter what the cause was.

"I shouldn't have got angry with you, Hermione," Tara said softly, not looking over at her. She didn't want her to see that she'd started crying.

"It's just .. hard for me to adjust, you know?"
