All's well that ends... well, it ended, right? It's probably not right to say it ended well, after the mess that it's left behind, but we have Jazz and Prowl together and that's always a good thing.
And they all* lived happily ever after. It was a wacky teen murder mystery, akin to Scream or something like that, and this chapter was the one where the sun comes up and the police come tumbling into the house just when everything's been put to rights. So Icon was the mastermind after all, and Slimline the pawn, though in my opinion that makes her no less evil. She was psychotic and violent and clearly capable of hurting a lot of people, she just wasn't necessarily in charge of the plans for it. World is still better off with her not in it. And I love how Prowl kept his wits, figured out Jazz's motivations, and fell right in step with him without even having to exchange a word between them. Evidence of the formidable teamwork they'll display in the future. Oh yeah, this could work. Jazz will be super-undercover-agent for the Enforcers, and Prowl will be his handler, the man behind the scenes pulling the strings and positioning his agent in just the right place. If this is all pre-war anyway, it's only practice for the kind
( ... )
"wacky teen murder mystery" *snort* Yup, that's just about how I see it. *facepalm*
Yes, Icon was the true mastermind, and yes Slimline was just one small push away from totally going postal and murdering everyone around her, and almost no-one realised it. Of course, I wouldn't put it past Icon to have been practicing on her which might have had who-knows-what effect on her somewhat limited sanity.
And Jazz and Prowl? Yes. Made to work together, no question. They barely know each other yet, but that will change. And Jazz is definitely going to be a star undercover agent, a perfect match for the star tactician that Brass already knows Prowl is.
"And they all* lived happily ever after" Well, sort of. I think Prowl and Jazz will continue to have an eventful life, war or no. And I do kinda feel sorry for Piper. He was a little petty, but he was basically fair. Ah well. The important ones triumphed and are now inseparable - can't really ask for much more than that ;)
