Ooh, you write D/s Megatron and Starscream so very well. What a pity you don't spend more time on this side of the civil war! (Not that I would give up your J/P fics for anything, of course) And so it all becomes clear, and so obvious in retrospect: of course Starscream was doing it as a bargaining chip, bartering for more rations and hence a little more security and safety for his Seekers. It's a loyalty that I can respect in an otherwise generally unrespectable character, and an aspect of real leadership. Harking back to TC's thoughts during the raid, it's like looking at a very worn, old piece of treasure that still gleams with gold here and there, still shows the lines of a beautiful work of art. You just can barely see it under the grime and rust.
So, this is a fascinating parallel to the secret relationship that Jazz and Prowl are carrying on under the Autobots' noses. It's not that everybody on the Nemesis doesn't know Starscream is visiting Megatron's quarters late at night, but none of them understand what's really
( ... )
Thanks ^_^ Oh, Jazz and Prowl muses definitely control my life. They allow other characters in at times, but only on their terms.
"so obvious in retrospect" Well that's what I aim for - totally opaque at the time, totally clear in hindsight. Don't always achieve it, but I try. Yes, Starscream has his reasons. They're twisted and not all that great in terms of actual benefit (to him, or anyone else) but he does have them.
"fascinating parallel to the secret relationship that Jazz and Prowl are carrying on under the Autobots' noses." Yes. There are lots of secrets in this 'verse. Some might appear to be out in the open, but they're not. And different perspectives make things look like one thing when in reality they might actually be something else. :)
Wow, the last scene really put it in perspective again. For a moment I thought that Starscream had found a tiny way out, in reality it was all part of the big game. You were right, Starscream is keeping himself in this position and yet slowly the why appears. Of course he's bargaining. But I'm starting to wonder what Megatron is getting out of this, besides a willing, beautiful sex slave. ... but then maybe this is reason enough for Megatron. But I wonder about the hint when Starscream was once unavailable for a raid. If that always happens than it would make Starscream to THE key player in the army. And what better way to control him than like this? Though Megatron makes me sick here. Can someone kill him, please?
Yes, Megatron remains in control. He's letting Starscream get away with this primarily to give him *more* control.
"But I'm starting to wonder what Megatron is getting out of this" Well the first thing to keep in mind is that Megsy doesn't think rationally. But yes there is a little more, and no we're not going to get the details just yet. For now, though, it's enough that he can control Starscream like this. That power rush keeps him very happy indeed.
"Megatron makes me sick here. Can someone kill him, please?" Not right now, sorry. Perhaps later. *hugs*
