I haven't been on livejournal much lately and haven't made a post of my own in far longer, which is a crying shame.  So I suppose I should start by saying:  Not Dead.  Just lazy and distracted by tumblr and without much to say

I will skip the spoilers in this post because I'm not done with Leverage yet, but yeeeeessssss Leverage!

Media that have been making me happy recently: the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch, especially the audiobooks, which are among the best I've ever heard. It's a wonderful urban fantasy series with a completely different take on magic from any other fantasy book I've read - the basic premise is that anyone can learn magic, given the right schooling, and the author uses that premise to critique who gets access to power and why. The main character is a biracial cop who is the first person of color in Britain ever to be formally schooled in magic, and he is such a charming, nerdy scientist whose reaction to learning about magic is "How can I do experiments with it?" So, so good, so diverse - the racial composition of the characters actually reflects the racial diversity of London, gasp!

I've also become completely obsessed with sense8, a new Netflix show by the Wachowskis. Interesting premise, completely charming characters

Yay, Leverage! I hope you continue to find happiness in it all the way through.

Thank you for the recs! I've been hearing all sorts of amazing things about Sense8, so that is definitely on my list of things to watch. I'd heard of the Rivers of London series but didn't really know anything about it. I think you've just sold me on the concept. That sounds splendid.

I am pleased that you are not dead. I am just now discovering that the week I was away from LJ was the week you posted stuff, so now I have back entries to read.

No new fandoms or anything here, though I am really happy that you enjoyed Leverage.

Hello there, fellow not-dead person! I suppose the up side to Livejournal being so dead these days is that it's very possible to catch up on back entries even after being away for a week.

I'm happy that my enjoyment of Leverage made you happy. That show is like a shining beacon of squee.

I was about to ask how your violin workshop went, but i just realized that you've posted about it, so I'm going to go read over there.
