I'm sure you all have something like this, but there are certain songs that I just love for no real apparent reason. Not songs of great inherent value, but songs or bits of songs that make me happy ( Read more... )

The Disney Peter Pan is worth a watch if you like animated kids movies with scenes of Native Americans that would never ever get put into a movie now. I hope.

Sort of like the Jungle Book is worth a watch if you don't mind that the orangutan is voiced by an African-American, and his song is jazz style as he talks about wanting to be human. It's cringeworthy when you think of it in a social context, but it works in the movie context.

Oh, now you've done it! *wanders off humming the croccodile song from Peter Pan*

One of my favorite tunes is "Concerning Hobbits" -- it is always good for a lift of the heart.

That's the problem with the Crocodile song. It sticks in your head.

The nice thing about iTunes, though, is that you can download just that one track for 99 cents when you really don't need the -whole- soundtrack. :D

Y'know, I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics. Just because it's such an impish piece of music on its own (bassoon solos are usually humorous, after all), the lyrics just sort of detract from that.

Quoth my (gay male) roommate when we first watched it "Well, if we didn't know Howard Ashman was gay BEFORE..."

The very best part of the stage version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is the added chorus "No one (something...ains) like Gaston/No one has brains like Gaston/No one comes up with endless refrains like Gaston!"

Hah! I love it. That almost made me laugh aloud in the middle of my (rather dull and certainly not funny) Microbiology class.

"I'm especially good at ex-pect-or-ating!" :) That song is so great to sing along to.

Hmmm I may ask you to send me that gladiators song. My curiosity, she is piqued.

Bwahaha. Yes, that's my second-favorite line of the song. :D

And when I see you on AIM, I'll send you the Gladiators song. *grin* And then you'll know why.

I'm interested in the Gladiators file... It's one of my dreams to do that number with an acappella group, including choreo of various circus acts. I have the 5-part band arrangement, but I'm not sure how to translate the parts into voice-able keys, since htey are all in the instrument keys....
