one in 20-degree weather where the water jump froze

...whoa.

(Literally, I guess!)

Horse looks happy, though!

I really debated bailing on stadium several times...but decided I just needed to put on my big-girl pants and deal with it. I'm a weenie about the weather...

Yeah, I never made it off the couch/out of bed this weekend. I was an awful snotty mess. I felt really bad that I didn't get to see you. I'm so glad you did OK, though. I heard that the footing held up remarkably well despite the 40 days and 40 nights of tempest.

The footing held up pretty well for xc saturday...I was one of the last to go, and 80% of the course was pretty good. The hill down to the little water was pretty dicy...as was the uphill towards the sunken roads. However, we used the monster studs (aka Julia's "Rainy Day at Fair Hill" studs...) and didn't have any issues.

Stadium was a giant sloppy lake...and warmup was even worse. The footing definitely didn't hold up there...

I really can't imagine much footing that would hold up to that weather. Several days of constant good rain... Maybe pure grit that is graded JUST RIGHT with PERFECT compaction on the clay underneath... but everything would have to be JUST RIGHT.
