So far, it's been an ugh day.

I had to get up earlier than usual, as Joe’s schedule changed again and he’d starting at 8 once more. I woke up today with a headache, and very tired, as Kuroneko decided to wake me up several times last night. My stomach was feeling a bit uneasy due to a combination of head pain and being extremely hungry. The water in the shower started to feel lukewarm about 10 minutes into my shower (did someone do laundry in the wee hours of the morning?). I pull on a pair of slacks to discover the hem on the cuff has almost completely come undone. I worn them anyway because I’m lazy, but I need to figure out how to fix it or buy a new pair.

Stumbling out to the kitchen, I toss some Jambalaya (leftovers from what I had made yesterday for lunch) into a bowl for work. While reaching for a lid, was subjected to a small avalanche of lids and plastic bowls because last time I cleared the dishwasher I just shoved stuff into the cupboard. After picking that up, I reach for an apple to put in my lunchbag, and have the whole bag of apples fall off the shelf in the fridge and tumble to the floor (opening in the process, making sure each apple bounced off the fridge shelves and the floor multiple times, guaranteeing a good amount of bruises). After picking up the apples, I set my lunchbag on the stove, to discover that the oven had been left on. Fortunately it wasn’t the stovetop or my bag would have been a goner. I shut the oven off, put the apple I chose in my bag, and realize the cans of pop I had bought for myself were still in the back of the SUV from Saturday.

I grab my book and my purse, setting them with my lunchbag near the door. I realize my winter coat is in the SUV as well, since it has been beautiful since Friday… until today. I decide to grab that and the free cappuccino coupon I have in the SUV, since Joe was taking the SUV today so he can get the oil changed after he gets out of work, and I need coffee. I go outside to the SUV, put on the coat that’s been sitting in 30 degree weather for the last, oh, 10 hours, shiver, grab the cans of pop and come back upstairs to replace the key for Joe.

I hang the key back up, put some pop in my lunchbag, fight with it to close it, and wait a few minutes for my coat to warm up and stop giving off waves of cold. Picking up all my things, I go out to Joe’s van - which is covered in a nice layer of frost. So much for leaving early. I start the van and turn on the defroster to full speed while I scrape off the frost. Finally, I get to leave.

I manage to get out of the driveway onto Ditch road without too much of a wait - only about 7 minutes. I realize that I’ve forgotten to take pain medication for the headache. Oh well, it’s not going to kill me to drive with one… the sun comes out from behind a cloud and I just about rear-end the person ahead of me. Okay, so it might feel like it is going to kill me….

I get to the corner where the gas station is and realize I forgot to grab the free cappuccino coupon from the SUV, and I don’t even have a dollar to buy one, even in my bank account. I growl and continue on, promising myself I’ll use the last of my instant coffee at work to make a very strong cappuccino. Right after I down about half a bottle of Excedrin.

Close to downtown, on Meridian, I end up stuck in the lane behind a disabled vehicle and try to get into the only other lane heading south. That wastes about 10 minutes. I pass the disabled vehicle and growl again as I realize that there were two pretty hefty-looking guys standing outside it, one on a cell phone, and they had stalled/broke down/whatever right at the corner of a very little-used road. Apparently, it was too much trouble to push it around the corner to get it out of the way of rush-hour traffic (and yes, I can and have done this with my own vehicles before calling for help so I wasn’t in the way of traffic, so I know they could have).

I finally get to the stoplight on the corner of the parking lot for work… and realize that I didn’t get my parking pass (rear-view mirror hangtag) out of the SUV either. I grumble to myself and park there anyway - I’ll deal with security later, if they give me a ticket.

I grab my bags and set myself for the 10 minute walk in the cold, and then the 5-7 minute walk to my building and floor once I’m actually inside the building complex. Once I get to my desk, Joe calls and tells me that the SUV’s back tire is flat. And it looks like it’s been slashed. Yippee.

After I get off the phone with him, it’s non-stop busy-busy (including trying to contact Delta airlines about lost luggage for a co-worker, when said co-worker doesn’t have his ticket, itinerary, baggage claim numbers, or lost baggage claim number with him, and has fairly weak English skills on top of it. Oh, FYI, Delta can’t look anything up with just the name and dates of flight). I take a breather somewhere in the middle to confirm with Joe that the tire’s been changed for the spare by road service (the only tire jack we currently own is in the van; I must correct that), and that yes, it does appear to all intentions to have been slashed. Then it’s back to busy-busy-busy.

As I left for lunch, I realized that I didn’t even get my morning coffee. I also realized that my zipper is having a hard time staying up (upon inspection, it appears to be broken). When I got back from lunch, I suddenly recalled I hadn't submitted my timecard on Friday - which means late paycheck for me. *sigh*

If I ever find out who slashed my tire... let's say we'll be seeing what my "decorative" spear can do to something other than duct tape and cardboard.
