I guess I´m the only one who is not excited about this, in particular since he comes back in the finale. I know that even Tom will be happy about this, but I am not because I am very much afraid MR/Lex will steal both Clark´s and Tom´s thunder. The media hype before will be more about MR´s return rather than Clark´s final steps, MR will be voted best actor again on K-Site just for old times sake, and Tom´s contribution to the show will be overshadowed in the reviews by MR/Lex talk. I am sorry that I am such a small mind in this regard but I feel that so much has already been taken away from Clark and Tom that I can´t get excited about this news...

I can see where you are coming from, but really, Tom and Michael play really well off of each other; this will raise both their game in my opinion, to the fans' benefit and enjoyment.

Personally I think Tom will be up to the challenge and he will make sure his last performance as Clark Kent will be a memorable one. I haven't been watching for 10 years for nothing! TW is THE main attraction for me.

Oh, I have no doubts about the actual performances. I am concerned about the writing and the public reaction. I want the media focused on Tom´s outstanding contribution to the show, not on MR´s return. I am happy though to learn that Beeman is going to direct, because, unlike the writers, he knows what the show is about. Some relief for me, at least.

I think your concerns are valid. I'm so excited about seeing Tom and Michael together again, and having Clark's journey end as it began, with Lex, that I know I'm throwing caution to the wind when it comes to everything else. I also think Michael and Beeman will bring the whole set to life with their combined energy, everyone will up their game as a result, and we'll have a better finale to show for it, just as we did when Beeman returned for Salvation. Plus, as you say, Tom will be happy ( ... )

Yay! Amazing how things can change so much from the EW piece on Thursday that was "nope, no way, no how"!

I would love to know the true story of how this came to be. Maybe Michael will tell it at a Con someday. :)

OMG this IS incredible news!! So glad that Michael decided to do one more curtain call. I bet the cast and crew are even more more thrilled then we are. Beeman too. It just keeps getting better and better. Thank you for being my dependable source sweetie!

It's been an amazing few days for Smallville fans, that's for sure! And I think Michael's return will help make those last, bittersweet days on set more happy for everyone.

I'm glad he's coming back. It wouldn't have felt right any other way.

I just hope the show keeps the focus on Clark in the series finale. Lex and Lois are both sure to play big roles (as they should) as they are the "Big 3" of the Superman mythos. And I know that Clark and Lex's final confrontation will be enjoyable. I just hope that the real focus of the final episode is on Clark. His emotions, his journey. But I think this is great news.

I was convinced there was no chance Michael would return. I still can't quite believe it's really going to happen!

I have the same hopes for Clark in the finale, and I completely understand your concerns. But I honestly can't imagine them not making it all about Clark, and from his POV, especially with Beeman involved. *is trying to have faith*

I'm also happy James Marshall will be directing. Over the years, key people have left Smallville in droves, including Beeman himself. James Marshall has been with the show since S1, and has remained loyal, year in and year out. He's a great director, and he deserves to be part of the finale.

You know what's funny? I'm actually not that concerned about it. As soon as I heard Beeman would be back I was like, "Oh well...that solves that problem. He'll keep it Clark-centric ( ... )

Oh...and I agree. The finale is going to be my Superman movie.

Oddly enough, just the other day....I watched the pilot for Lois and Clark. And damn it if that 2 hour pilot is not light years better than Superman III/IV and Superman Returns. That pilot was AWESOME. It could have been a Superman movie all on it's own.

I'm hoping the same thing for the Smallville finale. This will be my new Superman movie!!

The LnC pilot IS awesome! I can't even tell you how many times I've watched it. ♥

I would love for the finale to be able to stand on its own as a Superman movie. And if they released it as a special DVD with a bunch of BTS features, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
