Wouldn't that be awesome? I must admit, I spend an inordinate amount of my day fantasizing about all the possible roles Tom could play now that his life is once more his own.
He's gorgeous! Friends have been raving over him in The Tudors for years now (and suggesting him for Superman whenever the subject of another film came up). I am determined to finally watch that show and find out what all the fuss is about.
I don't know if I'll rush to the theaters when it first comes out, but I'll definitely see it, for the same reason, and hope for the best. I agree that the news so far, what little there is, only makes me wary.
For me, I know how completely Tom embodies the vision of Superman I hold dear. Henry Cavill is an unknown. He could very well be amazing in this film, but he'll never be Tom, and in two hours he'll never have the chance to give Clark Kent the emotional depth and richness of character that Tom has over the past ten years. Tom Welling will always be my Superman, even if he never dons the suit.
I certainly hope Tom gets another TV Guide cover to mark the end of Smallville. How many shows last 10 years? And YES, Tom takes my breath away in that still from Scion. Wow.
Ack. I'd be more impressed with this article and photo spread if EW wasn't owned by WB. It just seems very obvious and the fact that it really doesn't have any actual/new information in it doesn't help.
Also, don't try to sell us on a guy by telling us about all the parts he didn't get.
I know, it's all so incestuous, isn't it? Another reminder that it's all about business in the end, not genuine excitement over the promise of a new creative endeavor.
Also, don't try to sell us on a guy by telling us about all the parts he didn't get.
LOL! "I came very close." As the old saying goes, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. ;)
Hm. I'm not really feeling it TBH. So basically, I have the same reaction to Cavill as Superman as I do to Hathaway as Catwoman - could have been better; could have been worse. And like many others have already said, Welling is *my* Superman. He cemented his place there, and took that title form Reeve. So I'm afraid no matter whom they cast for this movie, poor bastard really doesn't stand the chance with me. :))
Also, from what I heard of this movie I have as much faith in it turning interesting or good as I have in the new Wonder Woman series. Not much.
