I should probably warn you that this entry isn't as complimentary as the subject line might suggest, and any Chloe fans will definitely want to scroll on by.

Hello! Renamed my account & lost all my mutual friends list - not on purpose I think I checked a box I shouldn't have. Please add me back if you still want to be friends with me (old username= mer_moonchild).

I enjoyed your picspam & ep review and totally agree with #3, 4, 5 & Sam the Lemur! Only I would add I loved the Chlark! And Chloe dressed as circa 1980s Madonna was also one of my fave moments. I'll miss Chloe and I don't mind if Clark admires her and says so, but I don't think it was handled well, like when they made her sing her own praises.
Self-aggrandizement is not attractive unless your a Luthor. Clark ought to have said "you believed in me first" and so on, instead of having her take credit for things herself. If I remember when she dealt with Darkseid she learned that having too much pride almost led to her being corrupted by the Darkness ( ... )

Thank you so much for commenting and telling me about your name change! *adds you back*

I seriously need an attitude adjustment when it comes to Chloe. I watched Blank during my lunch hour today, and remembered how much I always loved Clark and Chloe as BFFs. Maybe time will give me a different perspective on everything that happened over the past two years.

I think the showrunners really wanted to make some kind of reference to Bruce and Diana, the two characters DC would never let them have, before Smallville was over, and this was what they came up with. I'm sure plenty of viewers loved the shout-out, but it really didn't make sense for Chloe to know them or their secrets.

And I wonder, how can Chloe & Ollie live happily ever after when he was corrupted by Darkseid?I know, that's not exactly a minor detail. But I'm sure it will be resolved somehow in the remaining episodes, and maybe even be a major part of the final conflict. No one seems to know exactly how many more episodes Justin will be in. What we are hearing is ( ... )

Of course!
Ha ha you're right, they had to get Bruce Wayne & Wonder Woman on Smallville somehow even if it's just a final season namedrop.
I thought Tess was playing Ann Margret but her hair wasn't right so maybe she was Priscilla Presley. Actually I wasn't too impressed with her costume, Tess would have made a good Ann Margret instead of what she was wearing.
I've been avoiding spoilers, but I just hope Ollie doesn't get possessed and murder Chloe. :/

With the big headband and white boots, I thought they were just going for a generic go-go dancer look with Tess, but Ann Margret would have been an inspired choice to complement Emil's Elvis, especially with Tess's red hair!

There haven't been ANY spoilers for the episodes after 10x18 (10x19, 10x20, and the two-hour finale). They're keeping everything very close to the vest, which I think is just as it should be. I mean, this is the end. I would love to be surprised.

I don't think there is any danger of something bad happening to Chloe. Brian & Kelly have been saying since Comic-Con that she would finally win at love in S10, and get the happy ending she deserves. I think that's what we just saw in Fortune, and I think it will stick.

I love that you were able to find ten things to love about this episode!

//4) Justin Hartley//
Erica finally gets a reprieve from wearing the most ridiculous outfit in an episode. (Wait, I forget she had to dress up in an identical outfit.)

//He was no Shelby, but he made a cute and funny addition to Clark's drunken adventure. I just hope someone remembered to let him out of that closet.//
Where is Shelby? Did he (she?) get any of the champaign?

//Chloe Sullivan has left the building, and I, for one, will not miss her.//
I will not either.

Thanks for the positive review!

It wasn't easy. Not compared to last week, anyway. :)

I loved that at least this time Lois wasn't the only one in a crazy, revealing outfit. And who knew Oliver would make such a pretty girl? Kudos to Justin for being a tremendously good sport.

I hope Shelby is in the finale. I'll be very disappointed if he/she isn't.

Thanks for your comment!

I don't really share your enthusiasm for any part of this ep... it just didn't follow the last one very well. Very disappointing IMHO. Yes, disheveled Clark in a tux was a definite bonus, but I hated the storyline... I think it would have been more fun actually SEEING the party going on than the silly bits at the end, if only to escape that horrible Chloe-Clark angle - of all things gone wrong ( ... )

I agree. Why or how is Oliver acting normal when he's infected?

I had the same question. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the omega symbol doesn't indicate an infection that immediately takes over, but rather shows that Darkseid has made a connection to that person, and can control them at will, but until he chooses to do so, they'll continue to act as they normally would. But that's all speculation and fanwanking. :)

I'm still curious about something Desaad said to Clark in Masquerade.

Clark: And that's why the three of you have been burning omega symbols in innocent people.
Desaad: You act as though the marks weren't there to begin with. But I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.

Thanks for all the pretty, managing to find ten things you liked about the episode and for expressing yourself so well one the Chloe departure. I have to admit, I've been upset about this episode since watching it. I did laugh an enjoy the 10 things you mentioned, but the Chloe storyline, her whole return was maybe even more frustrating for me than Lana's departure. I guess because somewhere deep down I still wanted to like and care about Chloe. At one time, Clark and Chloe's friendship was one of my favorite written characterizations on the show. It has been completely destroyed over the last couple of years, but when TPTB said that Chloe's return would focus on her relationships, I had a glimmer of hope that they would deal with the issues between Clark and Chloe and get them back to the real friendship they once shared. Then that wonderful hug at the end between them would have been meaningful and special. I don't know why I would allow myself to think that would happen. Chloe being the first to inspire Clark was liking ( ... )

I totally get where you're coming from. I used to love Chloe so much, and at first when the show started to change her relationship with Clark, I kind of ignored it, writing it off as OOC behavior. But at some point you have to accept the characters as written, and I actually think the show made a decent case for what was happening ( ... )

Late as I am to the game, I have nothing of substance to add. It´s really exasperating that even supposed fun episodes sadden me in the end because of the horrendous writing and the missed oportunities... :( The only really good thing about Fortune was the little glimpse of Tom having fun outside of his role. (There is no way that even spell-drunk Clark would act as he did in some scenes! Which, objectively seen, is bad again because it means that Clark was written partly OOC.) Well, yes, and to see that the cast seems to have a lot of fun together.

Anyway, what makes me even more sad is that it is all too obvious by now (well, it was obvious earlier but there is always hope) that the show will go on like this, that is, without all the things that I´ve wanted to see about Clark´s final steps. And in the finale Clark will be lightswitched into Superman, probably flying and wearing the costume, and the writers think that all this makes up for all the missed opportunities and their very subpar job.
