First Lines Meme

Unlike most of my flist it seems, I write very few novellas (i.e. one...if it ever gets finished) and even fewer novel-length stories (i.e. none), so most of my first lines are taken from short stories or drabbles. I've only seen on of those: The infamous Manwe Birthday Party one (snicker). I am intrigued by them all. Especially "Maedhros the Tall."

The "character conversations meme"? I don't remember that. It's sounds like something I should know about since my characters talk a lot.

I know that a few of them aren't posted (shameless!) but some of the ones that I know I've shared I can no longer remember where I posted them...I may have to do a re-post.

I have three on Wednesday, so I really should study...but meh. We'll see. Two of those finals hopefully should be really easy. *crosses fingers*

I have the opposite problem - too damned verbose.

Nice examples of first lines. What ever happened to poor Manwë's birthday party? Is it still languishing?

Thank you! And continuing my streak of typical college nerds, I have just calculated the minimum grade I need to achieve on my most difficult exam. That being a D+.

I have the opposite problem - too damned verbose.

I wish I could say the same! I'm much better at cutting things down than adding to them.
