I haven't done this in a long while...

But, music lover that I am, and often finding inspiration in songs or thinking that certain songs could be about fictional characters, relationships, or situations, I thought I would do this week's fannish5 :

Name five songs (or whole playlists, if you want to get ambitious) that you associate with particular fictional characters.

(I am tailoring this prompt to include not just characters but situations or events as well.)

The Real Answers:

1. "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from Les Miserables - this song inevitably reminds me of the Rebellion of the Noldor.
2. "Harbor" by Vienna Teng - Elwing and Earendil. Slightly strange simply because I hardly ever pause to consider these characters.
3. "This Is Who You Are" from Trans-siberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last Night - Feanorian especially, for the line "You can run from all the memory but never get that far, for in the end they'll find you, for this is who you are."
4. "What Is Eternal?" from Trans-siberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last Night - Feanorian. Any or all of them, though perhaps tending toward Maglor, simply due to the poetic quality.
5. "This Is Your Life" by Switchfoot - Noldor, especially Feanorians. *smooths hair innocently* Not that my mind is preoccupied with the Feanorians or anything...

Random Weird Additions:

"Cell Block Tango" from Chicago - Feanorians. Plus maybe Finrod for the innocent one. Honestly, if there were ever a Silmarillion: The Musical I would die of love to see the Feanorians doing a nice tango number with someone they'd killed. Yum.

"The Dark" from Trans-siberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last Night - If Maglor and Caranthir had a love child. ..... I think I just short circuited a few fuses in my brain. *trips the breakers* Ahem, let's go with "If Maglor and Caranthir were one person" then shall we? Or it could be Maglor by himself, but the title reminds me of Caranthir, for obvious reasons.

"O Come, O Come Emmanuel" Advent Hymn - With a bit of editing, this song becomes about the First Age. It actually has the ability to create a possible crack!fic...

"Anna Rose" by Vienna Teng - parent!Fingolfin. Don't ask me why. That's just the connection the synapses in my brain created.

"Nature Boy" by David Bowie from Moulin Rouge (at least my version) - Maglor. Hands down. (Not very random, but it's Fannish Five, not Six).

Other Songs That Are Somehow Significant:

"The Good Fight" by Dashboard Confessional

"Duck and Run" by 3 Doors Down

"Fate" from Trans-siberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last Night

"I Write Sins Not Tragedies" by Panic! At the Disco (title, not lyrics)

"Feel" by Matchbox 20

I ought to stop there, or else we'll be here for awhile...
