My thoughts are:

Take a CV but don't give it to him unless he asks for it. Otherwise you could be seen as trying to get around the application process, which won't help your application.

I've heard of 'block release' in the context of studying, in which it is a concentrated period of study, e.g. instead of having one lecture per week for two terms, it's 2 weeks intensive work 8am - 6pm each day. It's useful for people trying to juggle paid work and studying, cos they can take short periods of time out to do their study, rather than having to negotiate every Wednesday afternoon off.

Hugs.

Is it informal because he said it was or you said it was? My thought would be to wear something casual or smart-casual, but not genuinely something you'd wear at the weekend or around the house! e.g. no jeans, nothing ripped, nothing with a weird picture or slogan, but plain trousers and plain top, looking neat but not looking like you're going to an interview. Does that make sense?
