Oo, nice! I knew there was a reason I stayed up way too late!

This paragraph is awesome:

A flicker of ... something ... passed across Clark's blue eyes, like a veil being swept aside, and what she glimpsed on the other side left her momentarily speechless. The thing she spied was something sad and accepting and painfully aware; it was something urgent, as if it was of the utmost importance that Lois let this line of thinking go. Please understand, Lois-you have to turn back now, that something seemed to plead with her, even as it drew her in.

I love moments when Lois suddenly sees behind the veil. :D

Thank you for this gift! *hugs and kisses*

LOL! I'm glad this was worth the sleep-deprivation =P That makes me feel better about having stayed up way too late, too! *grin*

I love moments when Lois suddenly sees behind the veil. :D

I didn't originally mean to put that in there--I thought I was just writing a silly ficlet, but somehow that moment wormed its way into it. =P I'm happy it worked!

Thank you for this gift! *hugs and kisses*

*hugs back* You're welcome! And thank you for the comment, birthday girl. :D

Lois stumbled here; she had been about to tell Clark that he was sweet, but couldn't seem to get the word out at the last minute.

Aw...This is such a wonderful little mundane moment that you put so much emotion and potential into. "Sad and accepting and painfully aware" is such a lovely way of describing Clark's eyes...*sighs wistfully*

Yay, I'm glad that worked for you! It took me like a half hour to write that line, lol. I was at a total loss on how to sum up the expression in Clark's eyes in so few words, and even after I settled on the above, I was still feeling twitchy about it ... so thanks for picking that out! :D

And thank you for the comment! *hugs*

Awww... *hugs Clark tight* O_O

I like Lois trying to stick up for him, even against herself. As much as he wants or needs to blend in, he needs her to be his champion sometimes, too.

Bravo!!

I think it was Tandelraimon (sp?) over at ff.net whose fic "Getting Eaten Alive" really endeared me to the idea of Lois as Clark's protector. I love it when they both look out for each other, and I'm happy you thought it worked here! *beams*

And thank you for reading and commenting! XD

Eee, thank you so much! As I was telling Jen up above, that line took me like a half hour to write, lol, because I just couldn't think of a way to do Clark's eyes justice in so few words. So I'm so happy that it worked for you!

And thank you for the sweet comment! (and sorry for taking so long to reply! Eeep! And I am so behind on your journal, too ... I can't wait to get a chance to look at your new fanarts :D *scrambles*)
