I couldn't find a transcript of this online, so I will first bring you what is probably a horrible, mangled paraphrase of an awesome response Neil Gaiman gave during his Q&A session (aspiring writers, take note!).
Question: When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
Neil: I've always wanted to be a writer. I can't remember a time when I didn

I would love to go to one of these cons... :D

I hope you get to someday! I've only been to the NY one (although I really want to go to the one in San Diego), but it's so much fun to soak up the atmosphere created by tons of comics fans being in one place. XD
Also, you might've already heard of it, but there is a comics convention in Ohio (http://www.midohiocon.com/). I think it's on the small side, but vigilante_wake went to it last year (if you want to read her brief account, it's here) and it sounds like it's a good time--especially if you want to chat with creators. X)

Lois and Anissa were going to go... but then it didn't work out for them. So I took a pass. I'd rather go with someone!
Yeah, the Con experience is probably a lot more fun with someone. I've gone by myself the last two years and have had a great time, but having a fellow fan to squee with must be priceless. :D I hope you find someone for this year! October is still a long way off. *grin*

I didn't end up getting much, lol. Just a few more volumes of The Sandman ... although that should keep me entertained on my commute for a couple more weeks at least. XD I really wanted superhero shirts, but there were no shirts for girls, wtf? Sigh.
Hopefully I'll be able to get pics up soon, too!
And are there ever comics conventions in Britain? X)

Gah, I knoooow! I don't know if this company - www.play.com - ship to America but they have both Superman and Batman womens t-shirts. It's where I got mine! :p

LOL, I don't know! I know there are cons where I've seen comic stuff, but I don't think we have comic cons like the ones in America. :)

One of these days the flist will have to get together and go to the San Diego Con. Then we can all experience the overwhelming awesomeness together. :D

LOL, I knowwww! Too bad my copy of LOTR is at my parents' house ... I mean, if carrying it around worked for Neil (albeit probably not in the way he planned), it's worth a shot, right? =P And I wish I had a picture of the girl dressed up as Delirium. Her costume was so awesome, especially the red-haired/rainbow-colored wig she had. I'm still wondering where she got it from ...

But he was really adorable! X) He kept fretting during his panel that he was boring us, but the crowd was really enthusiastic. I was just so excited to see a fan get some well-deserved recognition. :D ( ... )
