I would not attach the meaning "madly in love" to the Moon in any position. I would rather say that the couple does not understand each other, both have illusions about the other one and their future is very uncertain... rather they will have a hard time due to their psychological problems.

If they need advice, I would recommend them not to make any important steps during the hard time (at least a month). Some tarot readers also think that the reversed Moon means problems with the mother (it's not my interpretation and I did not check it).

Hm I understand why mental issues can be seen in the moon reversed, but that interpretation didn't sit well with me during the reading when I thought of it.

They both said that they led pretty stable lives. Perhaps there are mental issues that they're unaware of.

The illusions I would associate with the moon upright, no?

Thanks for your insights!

It's difficult for me to read reversed cards as I never use them (not convenient for me) though I am going to study the theory of reversed cards in the future to form my own opinion.

So the thoughts I expressed here are mostly other people's interpretation plus my own experience with this Major Arcana. Most tarot readers think that the reversed Moon is darker than the upright Moon.

If we suppose that it is not true and the reversed Moon is milder than the upright, we will receive the result that people will be trying to get rid of their illusions, to clear up their relations - perhaps this point of view will suit the situation better? But that's not the classic approach, just logic - that the reversed card may mean that people will fight with the things which the Moon card symbolizes :)

Thank you for your questions too! :)

I've only been studying tarot for a while (of any depth), but I have also seen people interpret reversed cards not as the "opposite" of their upright counterpart, but as the upright meaning in a lesser, more intense, or hidden way. So, perhaps there there are illusions that these two people are not aware of (are they being honest with each other? Are they showing their true selves?) But the moon can also be a card of confusion (which ties into illusions/deception). Perhaps these two individuals are themselves unsure of where the relationship is going, or where they want it to go? The moon also points to the unconscious, the imagination.

You may also want to take the deck you are using into consideration, as some decks' cards lend themselves closer to one interpretation over another. Like I said, I'm still new. learntarot.com is an online resource I use if you are interested (I've liked it so far ^^)

I always think of the moon R as the letting emotions cloud judgement. I like to expand to see what the other cards have to say.
