Hermit as career path?

Mar 10, 2012 17:38

In general what kind of career does a hermit have? One who seeks knowledge and truth through solitude (a mystic, or an initiate in an esoteric order)? Or something of a more abstract nature? I keep getting him in terms of my career readings.

Well, the pay stinks, and there's not a lot of advancement.

On the other hand, the boss is supposed to be pretty good.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Maybe a freelancer who works at home?

Or a teacher (the lantern represents wisdom.)

Learning. That's the career for you right now. Asking questions looking for answers.

...so would I be forever learning things then?

Yep, I thought of that. Definitely something esoteric related... I use esoteric "knowledge" in my artwork as well.

Here are a couple of ways I might interpret it.

1) You may find satisfaction in career fields that give you a high degree of autonomy and independence.
2) You may find satisfaction in career fields that gives you a lot of alone time (rather than something more customer service oriented or team-work based)
3) You may be good in research oriented fields (keying into the idea of the Hermit going off to think about life/meaning/spirituality).
4) You may want to spend some time alone with your thoughts right now and that will help you clarify what you really want of your career.

Those are a few ways to think about the card.

I do number 3 already as a hobby, perhaps it'll become more dominate?

Heh! I identify a lot with the Hermit and I fall into categories 1, 2 and 3. (I'm a technical writer.)

It's a good card for introverts :-)

Possibly being an entrepreneur and being your own boss?
