Wow.

What a long and beautifully crafted story. Harry's decline is so realistic it hurts, because I can see Rowling's Harry ending up that way.

I adore Neville, and I'm glad that he's found his success. And I love the idea that everything that Neville does is just another thing he hopes could impress Harry.

And of course, the ending is perfect. I adore Neville taking care of Harry, and Harry needing Neville to take control. Lovely. :)

Awwwww. Thank you! I had a lot of fun writing this and am seriously considering writing some of the tangents (evil plot bunnies)that kept spinning off my brain.

This was wonderfully done. I was just discussing this factor of Harry with a friend earlier. About how anyone with as much pressure as Harry has on him is going to consider drugs or alcohol. And being in constant pain just makes it that much more likely. Seriously, if a dealer showed up around Harry in the summer after 5th year - he'd so buy.

I adore Neville fics as well, and they are rather rare - so thanks :)

Oh it's painful because it could happen, Harry's decline.

He would spend his money helping others and to ease his pain, and be emberassed and slip away.

I knew Neville could make it big, even get a few good lovers. But he'd have to follow his heart. And he did, followed it all the way to Harry.

This was wonderfully done and very cannon. I respect that. I'll friend you if you don't mind.

Oh thank you! Certainly! Yeah, I think it's unfair to assume that simply because N bumbles a bit in his childhood that he always will as an adult. I find that most people are completely different as adults, and it's usually those things that you struggle with growing up that end up being your strengths. As for Harry, book 5 seems a perfect lead in to alcoholism.

Fantastic story... unbelievably reaslistic and who bloody needs cannon when the AU fics are so much better... here's to wishing a painlessly ever after to Harry and Neville, may their days be full of gorgeous sex!

This is one of the saddest, best stories I've read in a long, long while. I can see Harry falling apart like this, and Neville coming into his own after they all leave school. That Neville is finally the one to take Harry in and start him on the path to recovery seems right. I like both characters evolution. Harry inparticular rings true both at the reunion, putting on a show and letting everyone think the very best, and then later when he's become a street person. Both broke my heart but seemed very honest character developments given the final battle scenario you outline. Which by the way I liked how you shared information in bits and pieces instead of providing all the history upfront. It kept the story flowing better, and drew the reader in, as they wondered, what would happen next and why this was all occuring.

Thanks for sharing!
