today is sentencing for one of the Jena 6..lots of people have been wearing black to protest the injustice. hopefully, given the attention to the story and peoples outrage, plus the sweet donation of 10 grand by david bowie for legal aid (love him) things will turn around for the better.

So what's the deal with this?

well basically a group of black students sat underneath a tree considered "whites only" and the next day 3 nooses were hung from the tree. the white students were suspended. one of the white students was then beaten up, he landed in hospital but was released and then went out later that same day, and the alleged black students (the Jena 6) are being tried as adults for attempted murder and assault. the whole article is here if you're interested:
