1. I was hoping they would leave out the Epilogue, but I have to say having seen it I'm glad they didn't. They managed to age everyone impressively well, it wasn't excessively sappy, and it was gloriously circular. It kind of made me want to go read next gen fic. It was an appropriate ending in a way it didn't feel like an appropriate ending in the book. Things have been rebuilt and the next generation is moving forwards.
2. I was surprised by how much of the movie was taken up by the battle of Hogwarts. I think when Harry stepped out of the tunnel into that room full of all the students I started shaking, and didn't quite stop until I was sitting and eating lunch after the movie.
3. It has apparently been a really long time since I read the book, because I kept trying to remember what was supposed to happen next, who dies, who killed Nagini, and so on. Probably a good thing--I always avoid reading the book right before I see the movie because it invariably makes me way too picky to enjoy the movie.
4. They managed not to overdo the Ron/Hermione, and even more so the Harry/Ginny. Yay!
5. My enjoyment of Harry Potter is so wrapped up in the detail and the storytelling that's present in the books but impossible in the films, that I'm never going to be attached to the films the way I am to the book. I can't honestly say whether or not I liked the movie. I think they did a good job, though.
Successful day, all in all. Went to Ballard to see the movie, so afterward we got Thai food and did a bit of shopping. I managed to find boots (which I've been questing for for ages), and a fedora. The fedora was a glorious find--there's a posh shop in the Ave that sells really nice hats for lots of money, and I found one of their hats in a consignment shop for half the price.
