So this might surprise some of you who know me (well, okay, most of you who know me), but I'm actually quite undecided about where I stand on the proposed withdrawal of Australian troops from Iraq. I agree with your torned-edness...didn't agree with troops going in there in the first place, but now they're there, how can you just up and out?
Out with the fighting troops, in with the peacekeepers.

That said,pragmatically it's unachievable given the current climate. I'm interested to hear more details of ALP's 'phased withdrawal' and how that could work.

Yeah, I guess I agree on principle with a phased withdrawal, but I have a funny feeling it sounds like cop-out politician talk meaning that they don't want to piss off the voters who want to stay, and don't want to piss off the voters that want Australia to leave. But as you said, it'll be interesting to see what they come out with, it might be something I agree with for once.
