Firstly, a couple of Michael quotes (thanks to
tariel22 Tom and I had a wonderful time together. We laughed a lot. I shot a couple of scenes with him.
I shot for 19 hours, and honestly, I had a tear in my eye at the end. I was like, "Man, this is really it."
Link “Well, everyone is hoping I work with Tom [Welling (Clark)],” he teased. “I’m not going to say. You’ll watch the promos.”
“Fans. I wanted to do it for the fans,” Rosenbaum said. “I never wanted to hear ‘why didn’t you come back?’ [The show] started off with Lex Luthor and Clark when they were friends and Lex is going to go off and be the world’s biggest villain and Clark is obviously Superman. It had to end with them. It started with them as friends, it had to end with them. I had to do that. I think I did the right thing [coming back].”
Link Unfortunately he's still got a few trolls on his case...some people seem bothered that the return of Lex is getting too much attention. As always, I wish they'd lay off the actor-directed vitriol. The cast isn't to blame for plots you don't like!
Anyway, SCION! *includes a comment on a promo for an upcoming ep.
I had a few problems with the script but still enjoyed much of the episode.
Would have preferred...
- if Lois and Tess had swapped roles. Lois goes on digging up the dirt on Lionel and Tess and Lionel face off over Conner. That would mean dropping the Red K-makes-Connor-horny-for-Lois-plot but I found that didn't work at all anyway. If you want an actor to convey dangerous heterosexual lust....the lovely Mr. Grabeel ain't him! Whereas Conner being all furious & oedipal with Tess is very Luthor-ish.
- Having got this plot out of the way, I hope Lex doesn't return carrying an implausible torch for Lois.
(Did Lois say Clark gets "angsty" on Red K or did I mishear?)
Liked
- Clark as firm but affectionate mentor to Conner. Loved Clark out-speeding him. Clark is one hot daddy! And he even has his boy wearing plaid by the end.
- Continuity: Helen mention! Homage to the scene in Phoenix where Clark's ring is destroyed.
- Lucas G. really does look like a Tom & Michael love-baby :)
- Lois's clever Al Capone parallel
- Tess maneuvering a reluctant Clark into daddy-hood.
- And Glover, of course! Did the scene where he tests "Lex's" ashes confirm that Requiem Lex is indeed a clone? *hopes*
Loved
- All the Clex references. Clark furious with Lionel for taking Lex from him: "he was my closest friend and you destroyed him." Also loved the description of Connor as Clex's "genetic lovechild."
- Lionel meets Darkseid - wonderfully filmed scene.
And from the teaser....
Clark Luthor is coming back? OMG!!!!
