Just a short note to update folks on some good news. I think some of my readers have met my cousin Bren and his girlfriend fiancee Genevive. Turns out he proposed last week.

So I'm suposed to be getting a couple of gadgets (cell phone chargers) delivered via FedEx and a document delivered by UPS. Except that neither seems to be willing to actuallyt deliver the packages -- again!!! It seems like I go through this nonsense with shippers every time I get a delivery from someone other than Amazon.com.

This is a bit scary. Apparently, the Sci-Fi Channel is working on an adaptation of Neal Stephenson's Diamond Age. Now, I like the novel a lot, so I'm curious to see a film adaptation, especially with Stephenson doing the script and George Clooney producing. But Sci-Fi's history with adapting complex stories to the screen isn't exactly impressive ( Read more... )
