Elle didn't have classes, which meant she was being lazy in her room and contemplating the merits of wandering down to a common room or to her own common room

Okay, she hadn't called right away once she'd gotten to her apartment in Gotham, as she'd gotten distracted, but she wasn't going to forget forever.

So that Tuesday, Hayley called that same number she'd called not too long ago. This time in much less of a panic, thank goodness.

Elle was in the middle of a game when her phone rang. She ignored the game, grabbed her phone, and answered it quickly. "Hello?"

"Heeeey," Hayley said, leaning back against her bed, the phone receiver clutched to her ear. "I take it you all did something to fix... whatever that was? I guess I owe you all a heck of a thank you."

"I don't know how they did it, exactly, but they did it," Elle said. "And thank God, because I lost too many people who matter to me."

A pause.

"I'm so glad you're back."
