All right, I'd like to respond to this comment while it is fresh in my mind. Although I love to read completed stories, and I am disheartened when a WIP is abandoned, I do still read WIP's. I have a whole index card box full of story listings with the author's name, where they post, what is the last chapter I was on, and the last update date ... So I can keep track of em all

Maybe I can make some sense out of WIP for you. I try to only have one WIP at a time and post shorts or drabbles that are finished while writing the WIP and posting it on my site as well as archives. I said I post one WIP at a time and don't tend to post another one until that one is complete, but that doesn't mean I don't have a folder with others started and tons of ideas to go with them. In fact I actually have 5 WIP's, but none will be posted until I have finished my Guilty Soul and until I have all the way to the ending in my head. My brain doesn't stick to one idea at a time though. I think that's part of being creative. Things pop into my head and I must write them down. Like you said you have read WIP's that were abandoned as have I. I hate abandoned WIP's because I get so wrapped up in the story and I want to know how it ended. I will never post an unfinished fic until I know that I can finish it because I don't want to abandon anything. It's one of my pet peeves. There is also the matter that some write faster than others.

Sticking my two cents worth in here... as Tasha said writing doesn't always come as easily as we would like... the reason for WIP's isn't to milk more reviews or hold chaps to ransom as you implied... it is because if we were to hold onto the story until it was complete then you would get NOTHING for a very long time and then there would be complaints that we weren't writing, so we post it a chapter at a time as we get them written... damned if we do and damned if we don't

As some of the others have pointed out, some readers tend to not leave reviews if they are busy and think that the authors is doing well, so that the one review they would have left wouldn't make that big a difference. If many people think like that it will, but that's another story. Also, there's the lurkers who almost never leave a review, so sometimes the writer would have to look at hit counts or something similar. I, personally, am still reading and waiting on your fics. I may not review as soon as you post, because I tend to get behind lately, but I will as soon as I have a chance to read said fic. If you're busy, I understand, you need to live your life sometime :) Same goes for writing - if you don't feel like it, there's nothing I can do about it, but I still hope that you will finish your WIPs and maybe even start new ones
Boy am I late..oreo112001September 1 2007, 01:50:00 UTC
Well, I'm over a year late in posting this (when it was first begun I didn't have the time to actively search for fics and I didn't have livejournal either). Tasha, I want to take a moment to say I am sorry that I haven't reviewed you - I've read your WiP several times and in fact have read every story of yours that I could find. I loved them! I tend to only post a review when an author is struggling and says that he or she needs the encouragement because to be honest, many times I feel bad saying nothing more than "Amazing!" After reading this, though, I will definitely make more of an effort to leave a review. I hope to see more of your amazing work soon *hint hint* ;)
