As a teen I posted on Poetry.com constantly. It was impossible not to. I loved... no - adored the idea that my words were out there for people to read and relate to ( Read more... )

sadly no... I do not any more. The last poetry that I've written was from 2006 or 2007. One was a processing of Kyle's and my relationship, and the other was a celebration of small things and small children. Since then I have not written poetry. Part of that is because I'm now able to recognize that my attempts are generally weak and that my cute couplets are passe. Part of it is because my poetry is either mushy and gross or angry. And now I'm usually neither. :)

Yes, I am curious as to what out of style asked as well.

You sound like you're in a similar place faith wise to where I was a couple of years ago. Well, actually, for me it was less that people wanted me to believe things because they said so, and more frustration because none of it made any sense to me. lol

It sounds like you need to find more things in your life that make you happy. You deserve it.

An example... written with a silly attitude... probably in 2007. :)

Ode to Ceramics
by Me

Dear clay you are mine
and I wedge you all the time
your grog cuts my fingers and
your slip is sublime

Your bisque makes me smile
and I wedge all the while
in constant pursuit
of the perfection tile

Dear clay you are not
the best smell when you rot
or the glaze that been there
before it's placed on my pot

the green mold
on the porceline so old
will be wedged deep within
to the thrown, fired and sold

Dear clay I love you
there're so many things I can do
but I wedge and I wedge
until my arms are worn through
and there's nothing about that I can do

:) Yeah... not sure I want to admit that one. Oh well - it's out there now!

And as for faith - yeah... I could probably go on and on about that. Glad I'm not the only one!!
