Awww what?!

A few days ago i went £3 over my agreed overdraft, so transferred £40 into the account which went through on the same day.

Halifax have sent me a letter saying they're gonna charge me £63 of fees for that £3.

How can that be right? Must be a way to appeal it T_T

It's happened to me. I've had to pay Halifax nearly £200 in charges at the start of the year, which is why I don't have very much money right now.

You can phone and complain, and they may cancel one of the fees (usually the £28 'unauthorised overdraft' fee) as a 'good will gesture'.

Past that, there's some advice on the BBC's Watchdog website.

Phone 08457 203040 and explain what happpened. If you managed to transfer the money into your account on the same day you went overdrawn then you shouldn't generate a charge. However, remain pleasant about it but make it clear that you need that £63 to live on and as it's your first set of charges, they _might_ just reverse both of the charges.

Worth a shot, but do it before the money comes out of your account.

I think Myst of DDR found a place that did template letters for complaining about bank charges that seem to get results, maybe you should ask him.... not sure, but it was a while back.
