ohhhhh lord

It begins.

Easily one of the most epic days in my life is drawing to a close, and what better way to end it than a quick recap on the old elle-jay.

Good news and bad news. First the bad:

Graham's life is full of misery and woe. After another night of frequent puking, today we brought him to the vet only to have them x-ray him and tell us that he swallowed two pennies, most likely in an attempt to cleanse his system by making himself vomit. Under normal circumstances (i.e. cat hair ball in system, eat grass to remove) this would have been great, but being an indoor cat, he didn't have access to grass, and thought pennies was a logical leap. It was not. The vet removed the pennies surgically, saying that the digestive juices hadn't yet reached the zinc core inside the copper, which would have killed him, so he should be fine, but is staying until Monday to make sure. To make it even worse, it wasn't a cat hair ball he wanted to get out of his system. It was a human hair ball. Made from Bill's gross roommate's hair. I have never been so simultaneously disgusted and enraged by any one specific person in my life. Ew.
Unfortunately, because vets are ass expensive, we're not entirely sure how this is going to go down. Option A is that we surrender him to the vet and let them nurse him back to health and adopt him out to a home that can afford his expensive urges to die. Option B is that Bill's suckface roommate shells out the money to pay for at least part of he expenses, since it's basically his fault anyway. (Not only were the hairs his, which was the most likely cause of the pennies in the first place, but he also happens to perpetually leave small not-child-(read:cat)-proofed things around the living room floor. Screws, watch batteries, and, you guessed it, loose change.) We shall just have to see how this turns out. :/

- tl;dr - Graham almost died from bulimia and zinc, but he's gonna be okay. But I can't guarantee we're keeping him.

On the upside, and this one doesn't get an lj cut because it's more important, so you can get over it:

-~ I DID MY FIRST TATTOO TODAY! ~-

Savannah and I were aiming for Sunday, but since it was completely dead for Raven at the shop today, she decided we may as well start today. Tori flipped a coin, and we decided I would go first. (She's giving me mine tomorrow)

She chose to would do it on her calf, since Raven said chest tattoos are awkward and hard, so we just kept her little chickadee I had drawn up and went ahead with it on her leg.

It was so intense and weird! Freaking impossible to do a straight line, what with both the vibrations of the machine and the nervousness, but thankfully we designed a relatively straight-line-free bird for her, so it was okay. We're starting out with a fine liner so, in theory, everything else should just be down hill from here. It was iffy in several places, but for a first tattoo, it turned out pretty darn well. A couple lines in particular I actually did a pretty stellar job on. It's hard to be consistent, though. A few points were too light and a few too deep, but certainly a learning experience. The machine is all top/back heavy, so it's a strange sensation just to hold it, let alone use it while it's running. Plus the human factor of the recipient; muscle twitches and such. This is gonna take a long while to get the hang of... *.*

The boys were surprisingly nice about it, and hovered much less than I anticipated (partially just because Raven told them not to). And afterward, everyone (even the people there that weren't employed at the shop) were all really supportive and said it looked great for a first one. At this point, I don't even care if they were just saying it to be nice.

It still totally doesn't even feel real to me. Like I'm just making it all up from some elaborate dream. Fuckin' A. I have to think of something I want for tomorrow now, so she can do it for me, because the one she had designed for me I want specifically on my chest, so we'll have to save it for later.

Pictures later because I was ambushed, and didn't have my camera.
