Herb

I come to write about my current favourite weed. No, i don't mean indica vs. sativa, jerks. :)

My first close acquaintance with Daucus carota--Queen Anne's lace, AKA wild carrot--came when i was studying contraceptive herbs last summer, having quit the Pill but entered a relationship that was going to last longer than our condom tolerance. This ( Read more... )

You are welcome! I have a whole futon bed just for you. Wanna see if we have some matching good dates? I'm free most weekends, except for herb school weekends and the occasional festival this summer; maybe i'll even have some long ones. And i may be in town and totally free for the week beginning 7 June. Call me!

No kidding! Nothing ever got my rational mind out of my way faster; often when stoned i'd suddenly want everyone.

Come to think of it, another book of mine--Loren Cruden's Medicine Grove, the one i picked up probably within an hour of arriving in this town for the first time--perhaps more accurately describes this herb as having a sensualising effect. I really like Loren Cruden--she's an herbalist & midwife somewhere in Washington who includes commentary on the spiritual natures of herbs, in addition to the more usual earthy information.

You're so fab! admirabilia May 29 2008, 12:59:37 UTC
Will you be mine (homeopathic nurse-practitioner!?!?)

So wait, the wild carrot, tell me more about it... Did you actually use it as a contraceptive? Did you pick your own? (I read that the q.a.lace can be distinguished from wild hemlock by the little hairs on it. A tincture or a teaspoonful? Any side effects?

I am the proud owner of a 'pcos' prone bod and as such, will probably stay on birth control FOR EV ER but i always wondered about what kind of plaque those synthetic hormones are leaving behind. I know that if my pill is 'safe' but is it healthy. :) ? I'm on one that seems to be pretty good for me, but in the past i've had some pretty whack psychological reactions.... i am always on the look out for something less 'tweaky'.

I'm currently 'out of relationship' and plan to stay that way for a good bunch of months so i wouldn't mind experimenting with this on myself, as no possibility of babies are hanging in the balance.

what do you think?

Well, yeah i used it, but i also paid close attention to my cycle--when i was more apt to be ovulating etc. It's nothing something you can just take every day and expect it to be effective (and i wouldn't want to use it every day anyway because of questionable effects on hormonal status), but during riskier times i'd use it as a back-up--usually 2-3 droppersful at 8 and 24 hours after sex. If i were you, i wouldn't take it without needing to, but researching it would be great! Sisterzeus.com is one interesting forum for such information, though it's tough to know what to rely on ( ... )
