She hovered in the doorway in silence. With arms folded across her chest, Romanadvoratrelundar observed as the Argolin whom Meena had appointed the task of system repairs and upgrading worked on her K9 unit. Normally she would have done the job herself but at the moment Romana was at her limit. With only just enough energy to watch she didn't trust ( Read more... )

The Doctor frowned at his TARDIS. He wasn't really in the mood for leisure, but she wouldn't budge. Clearly she'd decided he needed a holiday after his regeneration, which had been far rougher than he wanted to admit. "Oi, can't we go see Krakatoa instead? Or how about the Titanic? World War Five? Anything but Argolis."

Granted, he'd had a bit of excitement there a long time ago, but now it really was a Leisure Hive. I.e., boring. He didn't particularly fancy reliving the memories he had of Romana, either. But despite his coaxing, the TARDIS still wouldn't budge. He stepped out eventually, grumbling under his breath.

He stopped dead in his tracks when he felt a presence in his mind. A presence he never thought he would feel again, because he was the last of his kind. Suddenly, he was very glad his TARDIS was more stubborn than he was.

Passing by a pair of particularly loud Centari she couldn't help but roll her eyes at their boastful laughter at the joke one of them made. She managed to duck aside just in time for them to pass before her footsteps came to a sudden halt.

There was something touching the back of her mind.

A presence.

There was another Time Lord here in the Hive just as she was.

No longer was she paying attention the the people around her. Despite how tired she was the Gallifreyan found herself hastening her pace as she maneuvered her way through the hall and into the closest open area of the facility. It wasn't just any Time Lord presence that felt. It was one that she recognized all too well.

The Doctor ran. Not away from the presence, but toward it...he knew who it was before he saw her, and he could barely believe it. But there she was, just as he remembered her.

He simply stared for a moment, his eyes haunted and afraid. Afraid that she wasn't real, that she would just disappear if he reached out and touched her.

"Romana?"

His face was different, far different from the one of wide eyes and a head of curls. But when she heard her name and caught sight of the man standing there, staring, she could recognize her old mentor no matter what regeneration he was. She had no idea what had come to pass -or how much time for that matter- while she was away in E-Space so there was no way for her to comprehend just what he had gone through since they last parted ways.

And despite the weary look in her eyes she still managed a smile as she drew closer. His expression troubled her but all the same, she was merely relieved to have found someone she recognized in this place. --In a manner of speaking, that is.

"Doctor? Is that really you?"
