I'll join the large group of my friends who have recently mentioned that they have neglected their livejournal. Yes, I'm one of them, too. I do read other people's entries, but I rarely make my own. I do make private entries that are summaries of my daily activities. Otherwise, I won't remember any of the smaller details

If I get find out what the problem is, fix it, and make it reliable, then I'll post a much better video. The secrecy has more to do with protecting my fragile ego than it has to do with protecting trade secrets for a potentially marketable product. Even if it worked perfectly, no one would buy it.

I'm an Electrical Engineering fanatic myself... if I had a dollar for every component I've fried I'd have at least 150 bucks :-p
It can be frustrating and discouraging at times but start with what you know and build up from there. When all else fails find an "expert" that you can ping ideas off of too. I have a few people at work I ask EE questions all the time.

About the flux thing, have you considered trying to building a small DIY fume extractor? I've seen a bunch of interesting solutions online, usually involving 12v computer fans and some kind of filtering medium.
