Ten year isn't a short time.

For the age of earth, well, maybe it's a short time.

But compared to someone's life, ten year is most likely 1/6 of their lifetime when mostly people die at sixty or so years. A small elementary kid will progress to be a high-schooler in ten year. For someone who’s being hospitalized and wonders if they can make it to the next day or not, of course, ten year feels like great dream comes true. Everyone knows ten year isn't a drop of bucket. Many things happen and develop in a decade.

But, for Inoo Kei, ten year isn't long enough to fully understand about Takaki Yuya.

He sighed, closing the locker in front of him. The mood has pulled down to the lowest level when Takaki came to him after their shooting, saying that he needed to clarify something yet it sounded like a complaint in Inoo's ears.

"Everybody make mistake." Inoo reasoned out, facing him properly. "I'm sorry, it was just spilled out like that."

"Yeah, everybody make mistake. But yours can be counted as a hint of disaster. Come on. Think before you say something. Act carefully."

"What?" Inoo opened his mouth at how easy Takaki saying those words like it wasn't a big deal. Didn't he just mention that Inoo is actually a stupid? He wished Takaki was joking, but the stare on his eyes implied he had no time for that. "I didn't reveal things which lead people notices that we have different relationship than with members. Be easy, dude."

"God, Kei. You can't control people minds. Who knows if they’ll finally able to smell our secret?"

"They won't"

"Don't put this easily!" The older guy's voice turned shrilling. And the atmosphere in locker room lapsed into silence. Inoo was certain that he and Takaki wouldn’t be cool and offbeat right now. Good thing it was only two of them here. Good thing members didn't have to watch this unnecessary scene. “I was sort of dying when you started rambling, like, I couldn’t believe you didn’t shut your mouth.”

"You're overthinking! And then what if they finally found out that we're dating?! We should just deny and case closed! It's not like we had lot of times to date outside so no worries of paparazzi!"

"It's been nth time you slipped out your tongue! And talk is cheap because you never experienced this kind of stuff!”

Inoo snorted. “Take that back!”

“That’s right! Everything sounds easy for you because you always stay on your safety zone! You’re just a spoiled baby and everybody protected you and you never had a big scandal! But think about people! Think about me!”

“Oh Yuya you-”

“Maybe I'll like you better if you-”

"If I what?!" Inoo retorted, voice rose just as loud. Feeling his mind didn’t correctly fit with how’s his boyfriend thinking about this matter. Everything stopped cold, except the clock somehow marched louder than it supposed to. "If I didn't expose our one-hour phone call?! God, I didn't know you're close minded enough to worry about simple thing!"

Takaki opened his mouth, and then closed it again. Inoo felt that Takaki stiffened out in front of him, no proper word escaped, like he was clutching something in his chest, something he was ready to tell Inoo, but knowing Inoo would never understand so he just let out a deep sigh.

He remembered the last time he saw this look on Takaki’s face was when they were still awkward to each other. Back when Takaki didn’t trust him. Back when Takaki doubted him for whatever he said. Uncertain. And Inoo hated the feeling if he made Takaki skeptical. He, honestly, didn’t mean anything which possibly harmed them in the very first place. But-

"Well ok. Whatever. You’re always right, Mr. Smart." Was the last thing came out from him, before he dragged himself and leaving Inoo alone.

***

It was peacefully quiet in his apartment. Perfect place to have rest after a long-tiring-day. But ever since their fight escalated to the point Takaki didn't text him tonight, Inoo couldn't fully close his eyes like he'd expected to be.

People said, when you’re being gloomy, don’t listen to heartbreaking songs. But such theory wouldn’t work on Inoo, because he couldn’t just hum upbeat tune when he wasn’t in a good mood. So he lied there, on his bed, listened to ballad aired in his playlist.

Starry sky through window. But they looked lonely even with those glistening sparkles. Once, for once, he ever thought night sky is actually an art. When he and Takaki had a date and stayed in a hotel room for two days. Did nothing special but staring at the stars. They kept talking trivias, about members, about upcoming projects, about what to eat, and who treat who on the next restaurant.

It was a great experience when Inoo curled into Takaki's arm, smelled the citrus scent, and everything felt just right. He liked the feeling when Takaki’s body against him, when Takaki’s lips touched him, when Takaki kept muttering how much he loves him on his ears, when Takaki breathed on his neck, when he can do anything to his lover.

Damnital. He missed Takaki so much.

And the inability to call Takaki right now made him sick.

Thus finally, Inoo got back his clear mind, to the point he admitted it was his fault. He'll always be the one at fault. Takaki’s a type who didn't like to bother small things. Takaki’s the one who always trying to act casual with him. In order to protect their relationship, to keep their dirty little secret safe, to protect Inoo from all harms. It wasn't something new an entertainer got banned from industry because of scandal, because of secret relationship. And considering theirs now, Inoo could easily deducted if one day national newspapers write headlines about them, 99% of their careers will end soon after the revelation.

It was better to hide things yet he owned Takaki, rather than trying to tell the whole world Takaki is his, but he’ll just eventually lose him.

He looked at his quiet phone. A couple of times he picked up, only to put it back down. And suddenly it vibrated, but none of those texts were from his boyfriend. Just a reminder from their manager to gather at 6 in the morning.

Unimportant.

He exactly knew when to wake up.

***

“So your schedule will start at 11, don’t be late.”

“Alright.” Yabu promised their manager. And as soon as Yoshizawa left, it was only nine of them waiting in front of the lift. He turned his face and looked to members, charismatic aura. “So approximately, you have three hours to manage your luggage and take a rest first. We’ll meet at 9, kay?”

Chinen just stretched out his hands while yawning, slightly nodded, indicated he understood very well the clear reminder. Keito just stayed silent, even though Yuto constantly hit his arms like personal drums.

“Three hours. Too short.”

“Don’t complain, Daichan.” Yamada tsked. “You should wake up yourself later, I don’t want to be your alarm.”

And as soon as Yamada warned him, Daiki started rambling that he couldn’t sleep properly last night because his cousins slept over at his place. It’s been a full minute of annoying human contact, and Yamada just literally didn’t care in the slightest. His story kept running until the lift arrived and opened the door automatically for them.

Inoo tried his best to stay natural. Pushing away uneasiness ate him inside. Ignoring the way Takaki ignored him as well. Because that was the only option when they blended with members; acted finely. He headed first to the lift, and stood behind the rest of them. But he didn’t expect Takaki would be the one standing by his side, brought this testy and deep silence, even if members talked and hummed with energy.

And their arms slightly brushed each other. Warm and familiar. Helplessly drove Inoo nuts.

He stole a glance through the corner of his eyes. Finding Takaki watched in front them with unreadable gaze. His boyfriend wasn’t someone who’ll observe through the lift door, though. But Inoo’s sure Takaki didn’t listen to whatever Yamada and Daiki argued, also whatever Yabu and Hikaru discussed about whatsoever.

God.

It was a big deal that he couldn’t just speak to Takaki. No single hi. And no apologize like he’d wished to say.

So that Inoo slowly turned his face aside,

“Yuya I-”

His voice sounded so small even in this lift, because he tried to not to catch members’ attention. Yet it felt like the whole eyes on him so his tongue tasted horrible. But before he could speak any further, Inoo was silently stunned in his place when Takaki’s long fingers groped behind them, trying to find its way tied with Inoo’s.

They stood there with no words. Inoo’s mind went cloudy and confused, yet he didn’t reject.

Takaki looked at him for mere seconds, curved a tiny smile.

And their fingers finally filled each other’s empty space. As Takaki’s thumb brushed Inoo’s tenderly, like he was just saying the most encouraging words to his boyfriend.

Again.

“20th floor. We’re here.” Yabu stated.

All of them escaped from the narrow place in unspecific order. It was a fast journey, Inoo thought.

“Ah, I left something at the lobby.” Takaki said lazily. Got members confused stare as response. Seriously, he should spill better reason than that. “I’ll be back.”

Inoo didn’t know if members thought they act normally or not, because those seven people just stared like they needed few seconds to process. Takaki pressed the button to GF without letting his boyfriend joined the rest. And the door closed, and then the lift went downstairs.

Inoo hated it when he’d never taken first step to apologize. For the whole time since they started dating, Takaki always be the wise one. He was, otherwise, the trouble maker. He always found a way to escalate their problems. He always played like a victim. While Takaki loved to just let their argument sit and die. Or else, the older guy would just take the most effective way for both of them.

“Yuya…” He managed a proper tone.

“………………….”

“Is there any CCTV here?”

The question brought Takaki’s laughter. Hell, his careful side escaped not on the right time.

“I don’t know.” Takaki answered. “But we shouldn’t be reckless.”

Inoo nodded.

“I’m sorry.”

It was smooth enough. Despite his head was pounding so hard.

“………………….”

“I’m sorry. I was lame.”

“You don’t have to.”

“You’re right. I said something too risky. I don’t have to ask more proofs what will happen if people know we’re into a relationship. Oh God, we’re both entertainers and Johnny’s. I can’t believe I was being stupid.”

“No, Kei,” The thrill of Takaki called his name dripped down to his skin. He missed that. “Maybe I’m the one who’s overthinking. I got traumatized. Overly worried.”

“………………….”

“And I shouldn’t say something like that, though. That was rude of me. I’d never thought of like you better if- because I just-I just like you, is all. My past haunted me eagerly that I was so afraid if we can’t work it out. I’m really….. sorry.”

They were silent a moment, considering it. True. The memory when Takaki broke up with his girlfriend years ago and she got banned from her group was still fresh in Inoo’s mind. Of course, Takaki couldn’t leave such possibility alone.

“But,” he continued, looking to the number displayed 14 digitally. “But we’re also bandmates. Nobody will suspect something’s wrong with us. It was just a sign of friendship. Right? The phone-call thing?”

“Yeah.” Inoo took a deep breath. “I said that because I just want people to know that we’re close. I got annoyed when staffs separated us because they thought we couldn’t make lively and warm conversation. Like, c’mon, we aren’t that awkward. We can fulfill their expectations. Why don’t they give us joined project?”

“………………….”

“Haven’t you ever thought about it?”

“I can’t believe we’re talking about this.”

“About what?”

“Your jealousy.”

“I’m not!”

The absurdity of Inoo’s reason made Takaki giggled. Ah, if only they were honest since beginning, all of this misunderstanding wouldn’t occur. Because make-up inside a lift was so limited and pursuit by time. Not a comfortable place. Not when the floor number hit 5.

“But seriously, just be careful.” Takaki reminded.

“I promise.”

“Shit. I wanna kiss you now.”

Inoo laughed, got amazed at their synchronized imagination. “Maybe we can do that later at night? I’ll make sure Daiki to just join Yamada and Chinen in their room and we can have the whole space for us.”

“Hey, Kei.”

“Yes?”

“I’ve checked my eyes everywhere, and I don’t think there’s a CCTV here.”

“Are you sure?”

But Inoo didn’t get an answer. Takaki’s lips were soft and warm and tasted like mint toothpaste in the morning. So fresh and so sexy that Inoo couldn’t take it. And Inoo slowly returned him with accurate tempo. God. He wanted to throw himself to Takaki on bed, he wanted Takaki to trace every single place on his skin, he wanted Takaki to teach him the right hip moves like they always did, he-

loved him.

“So,” Takaki began, forehead-to-forehead, eyelashes fluttered amidst his closed eyes. “What do you think?”

“Well, secret relationship is sensational. I love this thrilling game, dude.”

Takaki put his lips on Inoo’s forehead afterwards, full of concern. Wanting to do more except right now the lift tinkled, door would open in seconds, and they must part away.
