i just know this is going to turn out emotional and over the top and probably even immature, but right now i don't give a fuck. it's my reaction and it's my journal, and i feel the right to speak up in the heat of the moment even if i might regret it later

As I'm sure you know, I read the story, I loved the story and I knew exactly how closely it resembled the original - for me that was one of the best things.
When I go to see a favourite book made into a film (LOTR is great example) I want to see the re-telling of the same tale with the director's guidance. The bits of LOTR I didn't like were where it varied from the book!
There was never any doubt in my mind that I was reading a re-writing of Jane Eyre because that's exactly how it was presented. I don't understand why people who haven't read the original version of AHP and cannot appreciate the many parts of the story that have a unique LOTR slant would want to do this to anyone, never mind to someone who gave so much of their time to the fandom as a friend and marvelous beta.
Very, very sad.

Sadly, the fandom isn't just losing namarie120, they're losing countless others who refuse to share their stories with vultures just waiting to find fault with what they're writing. :(

and yes, the fandom is losing much much more than they think they've gained by this. and i'm considering some decisions about my own fiction, but i'll let it wait till tomorrow to see how i feel then
