I do love ancient History too. Maybe because I am Italian, can't walk in my city without looking at some roman ruins =P
What enraged me, though, is how often Ancient History is "diluted". It is VERY hard to read a book or [harder even] see a movie set in ancient Rome or ancient Greece which shows, to tell one, how homosexuality was saw. And it is interesting in my point of view!

I suggest to you too "Talon's Shield" [I believe this is the title] of Valerio Massimo Manfredi if you have time for a good historical book. It is worthwile^^

This story is interesting. Although I'm not a history buff, I am intrigued with your background here. The way you write makes me want to learn more about Sparta. You've fascinated me with this and I want to know more, especially since you've incorporated our boys into it. I'm wondering now what will happen for them.
I'm looking forward to your next chapter. I'm enjoying the learning here. : )
