My husband's been playing the video almost constantly, so I had to share.
It's a powerful affirmation that speaks to all of us on so many different levels. They are good tears because they remind us that words do matter, and vision does matter, and purpose does matter. Yes, we can...to anything that seems difficult, we will find the strength to undertake it and triumph. Yes, we can.

How powerfully stated.
I remember trying to explain to someone way back when what Obama meant to me. "He doesn't need detailed plans," I insisted. "By providing the vision, he creates the context for people to move forward."
My words fell on deaf ears at the time, but I think this is Obama's gift. We are so extraordinarily lucky to have this man here at this time. He can call out the best in us, and it will take all of us to make the difference. But we needed a call.

One of the gifts of having had such a lengthy campaign (dear God, almost two years) was that Obama had time to move from presenting just a visionary approach, to being able to explain more specifically what it was he planned to do. Certainly, there were broad strokes presented, but I think enough was put forth so that I, at least, felt very comfortable with what he planned to do, if not knowing specifically how he planned to carry out every minute aspect.
The ability to inspire is something that no Democratic candidate has had since Bill Clinton, but it was the ability to inspire coupled with the ability to organize people that I think made all the difference.

Exactly! It's "...ask not what your country can do for you, but rather what you can do for your country." It's potent, heady stuff.
