Sam opened the door fully dressed. He didn’t seem as surprised to see Ray standing there as Ray had expected him to. It was certainly a surprise to Ray. Stepping back, Sam watched Ray expectantly.

“D’you want a drink?” Sam asked, gesturing the already open scotch bottle upon his table. Ray deliberated the offer,

Absolutely bloody marvellous! Everything about this was a joy. The characterisation was so right I could hear them speaking, the plot worked perfectly (oh YAY for Sam at gunpoint! I love you just for that!). The porn was hot and believable and finally brought home to me why Sam/Ray works as a pairing. And yet Gene got him in the end! (Which is only right :D)

Sam in life-threatening situations seems to be a big kink in this fandom... Hell knows it's one of mine. ;)

This is absolutely fantastic! You've captured everyone perfectly, especially Ray, and I love the fact that Sam was more of the bastard in their relationship - it just fit so well, and then Gene's reaction to Sam and Ray was absolutely spot on. This has to be the best Sam/Ray fic that I've ever read; it was just absolutely believable, and the action at the end was very well done, as well - not to mention the description and general writing. Bravo!

Surprised myself by writing Sam as the bastard! But, as a character, he can seem quite selfish so I hoped it'd work. :D

Thank you! The plot was an unwanted addition, I've gotta admit, but I'm very glad you think that. Caused so much hassle trying to make it seem even slightly plausible. :D

Oh wow. I think this might be my new favourite. Plotty, poignant and so so hot... your characterisation of Ray pushes my buttons like mad. And it works so well, from the plot to the pairings to the voices... guh.

I don't know how I missed this, having nursed Sam / Ray thoughts ever since I first watched the show! But but, better late, etc.

(I'm a little incoherent right now, but I couldn't resist piping in immediately after reading... maybe I can articulate myself better later.)
